I not too long ago purchased this safe so my wife and I could safely maintain items away from our precocious youngster. This secure was an amazingly low price tag of $99. It arrived promptly via free "Prime" two day shipping and in pristine condition. After about 15 minutes of examination, battery installation and securing the shelf screws which apparently worked their way loose in transit I was prepared to secure our belongings. This secure is particularly nicely constructed. The safe is created from 1/8th or.125 inch metal plate and incredibly sturdy. I comes with four generic AA batteries for the electronic keypad. It has two "emergency" keys in the event the batteries fail. As indicated in the description this protected is 1.8 cubic feet which roughly translates to about 20 cans of soda.
I have a handful of minor comments the initially being the shelf is not welded but rather fastened by the afore mentioned screws and the shelf wobbles ever so slightly. The second was the good quality of the foam pads included and attached to the door to deaden the sound of the door closing. They are practically worthless and I promptly replaced them with some improved, thicker ones from the nearby property garden center. Lastly, I didn't care for how loud the key pad beeps when you enter the code. I wish there was some user strategy of programming the pad to beep in a lower tone or not at all.
I would recommend keeping a flashlight in the safe or hold the secure in an area that has access to some external light supply simply because the safe itself is extremely dark and based on where you maintain it you will have a tricky time seeing what is in there.
This safe is not fire rated nor is it theft proof and for the majority of users needs it will perform its function of keeping third parties grubby mitts off your property, but if you want or want maximum security and fire protection look elsewhere.
For a $100 secure with free shipping, this is a excellent deal. Please know that it offers no fire protection and the metal is not that thick. I use it for handguns to keep away from youngsters and I am much more than pleased with the value. I also added two stick-on battery powered LED lights (purchased on Amazon) that are incredibly useful so you can see inside -- it's rather dark inside.
