I purchased the 2 camera program and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent by way of 2.4ghz. RF (the wireless portion). You can mount the small DVR anywhere that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den subsequent to my recliner, but, you can move it conveniently if you need to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is nice to have!
If you will need power outage protection, you will require to install a ups power outlet for every camera (use a single for a computer and hook the camera supply into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the system and installed 2 cameras in an afternoon with out any strain. It did take a small preparing, but, it was seriously straightforward.
It is a lot cheaper than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the pictures (even immediately after dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and running for one month and it is wonderful...the image high quality is good, sound quality good, and night vision is superior, I would invest in this once more..A+
