Consumer Evaluations
These BRK smoke alarms have issued alarms twice now, which lasted a few hours each and resulted in lost operate time. Initially, two of these would beep each and every minute and absolutely nothing I tried would stop it, so I had them replaced, and then these seemed to be OK, but just about each night we would hear a 1 second alarm. Then 2 weeks later, the alarms went off steady and absolutely nothing we tried would silence or reset them. We even had the gas business come out to check the gas applicances for CO2, due to the fact 2 of the units also had the CO2 detectors built in, but every thing checked out fine, so I just began unplugging the units until the alarms stopped. A few days later, the remaining 3 alarms that I still had connected started one more false alarm and sooner or later stopped. I don't have time to place up with matters like this, and it can outcome in not even believing your smoke alarms, when it could be a genuine fire! I only bought these simply because they were plug compatible with the Initial Alert, but I will have to rewire the plug and acquire a greater quality brand.
My home came wired with about 12 of these with the battery back-up. Given that the 9 volt battery is supposed to power the whole technique when electrical energy is lost they ought to be replaced pretty often. They test at about eight.25 volts when needed to be replaced. I have bought a couple of these non-battery units to replace the ones in the cathedral ceiling that requires a ladder to replace and will invariably commence chirping at 2am on a cold winters morning. I have also replace the one particular in our unheated attic which suffers the identical fate.
As long as I can get to the unit I'll stick with the battery back-ups but for those tough to reach locations these electric models as a far better choice.
